Menu wording and availability can differ after state selection. A missing menu does not mean another website can perform the service; it usually means the state uses a different workflow or requires the concerned RTO.

Do not enter a driving-licence application number into a VAHAN vehicle-application form. The similar branding hides a different central entity: Sarathi is driver/licence oriented, while VAHAN is vehicle oriented.

- Choose the relevant LL, DL, application, fee, document or appointment menu.
- Read the state-specific prerequisites before entering personal data.
- Complete identity verification only on the official service.
- Save the application number, acknowledgement and payment reference.
- Use Application Status for the next stage instead of submitting a duplicate transaction.
Which State Should You Select?
For a new application, select the state/RTO with jurisdiction under the eligibility and residence rules shown by the official process. For a service on an existing licence, begin with the state that holds the DL record. If you have moved, use the official change-of-address or transfer-related process; choosing the new state at random can return “record not found.”

Sarathi is primarily the official web platform for driver and licence services. Do not install an unrelated app simply because it uses “Sarathi” in its name.
Can Sarathi download my driving licence PDF?
Some states expose Print DL or DL Extract functions. For a nationally consistent issuer-fetched digital document, also check DigiLocker. mParivahan commonly provides an in-app Virtual DL rather than guaranteeing a PDF.
