Depending on the issuing authority and requested purpose, the output can include identity/licence particulars, issuing authority, authorised vehicle classes, issue and validity information, and current record status. Do not promise a universal layout or every historical endorsement.
The extract reflects the source record. If that record contains an error, apply for correction; do not edit the extract.
How to Apply for a DL Extract
- Open the Sarathi state selector.
- Select the state that holds the licence record.
- Choose Services on Driving Licence.
- Enter the DL number, DOB and verification details.
- Select DL Extract when available.
- Confirm the stated purpose and applicant details.
- Upload the requested evidence and pay the generated fee.
- Save the application number and receipt.
- Complete any RTO/original-verification step shown.
- Track the application until the state provides download or collection instructions.
The exact option, form and delivery method are state dependent. If “DL Extract” is absent, contact the concerned licensing authority rather than using a third party that claims it can query the database.
Using an Extract Abroad
A foreign authority can require a certified extract, licence verification, translation, apostille/attestation, driving history or an International Driving Permit. These are separate products. Obtain the destination authority's written requirement before applying so you do not pay for the wrong document.
An IDP translates/represents driving entitlement for relevant travel use; it is not a substitute for every foreign licence-extract or authentication request.
