How to Book or Change a Test Slot
- Select the concerned state on Sarathi.
- Open Appointments.
- Select the learner test or driving-skill test connected with the application.
- Enter the application number and DOB.
- Choose an available date/location.
- Confirm and save the appointment acknowledgement.
To print a lost appointment slip, check Application Status and the print acknowledgement/appointment options. Do not pay an agent merely to reproduce a receipt already linked to the application.
Prepare for the Practical DL Test
- Bring the application and appointment documents requested by the state.
- Use a vehicle of the applied class that meets the RTO's test requirements.
- Practise observation, mirror/indicator use, controlled starts/stops, turns, reversing and parking.
- Know the vehicle controls and safety checks.
- Follow examiner instructions without unsafe improvisation.
- Arrive early enough for document and vehicle verification.
The exact track, manoeuvres and vehicle arrangement vary by state/RTO. Do not treat a private video of one test track as a national official pattern.
After Passing the Test
- Check the application status rather than expecting an immediate PDF.
- Confirm that the test result is recorded.
- Wait for approval and DL-number generation.
- Fetch the issued record through DigiLocker/mParivahan when available.
- Track printing and dispatch separately for the physical card.
If the portal still shows “test result pending,” contact the test RTO with the application number and test date. Submitting another application can create a conflicting record.
If You Fail or Miss the Test
Use the official retry/retest or appointment process enabled for the state. The application may require a waiting period or additional fee. Check the displayed instructions rather than relying on a universal retest interval quoted by a commercial page.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is the learner test available online from home?
Some states enable an online learner test/STALL workflow, while others require a centre/RTO route. The selected state's Sarathi menu is decisive.
Can I download the DL immediately after passing?
Not necessarily. The test result must be recorded and the application approved before the issued DL becomes available.
Is an eye test the same as the DL driving test?
No. Vision/medical assessment can be part of Form 1A requirements; it is different from the learner knowledge test and practical driving test.
